Factory tour at igus®

The department "Design and Plastic Machinery" of the University of Duisburg Essen at igus®

On Friday, 25/06/2010, igus® opened its doors to the department of Design and Plastic Machinery of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
The department took the opportunity to tour the plant to inspect first hand the latest developments and products from igus®.
The interest of the 9-member visiting team was particularly aroused by the latest iglidur® materials.
After brief introductory lectures, inter alia, by sales staff and our materials research department, the team went to the factory to finally come face to face with the real products, materials and production options that they previously knew only from Powerpoint presentations.

It not only gave much to admire and to look at, but also newly-cast parts to hold in their hands. The department spent about 2 hours inspecting all the divisions and many work steps that lie behind our products.
In particular, the department fancied our in-house test labs, where our products are subjected to a variety of hardness tests.
In connection with the factory tour, a very interesting exchange took place between the members of the department and igus®, in which both sides exchanged information on the latest tribo-optimized polymer research.
