H&S Robots built this "chain torso" on behalf of igus®. The specification was to use as many igus® products as possible in this application, particularly 2 robolink® joints in the shoulder and elbow.
The drives for the joints and the movement of the 5 fingers are all accommodated in the torso. All movements are controlled via draw-wires and all draw-wires are undertaken by joints and "bones". This execution is another characteristic of the igus® articulated-modules idea.
Result: no lose cable bundles or energy supply systems in the movable arm.
