Extrusion for roller clutch

Ashe Controls Ltd. implemented a new extrusion idea for a rotating clutch chuck, cutting 8 x 250mm lengths off a special profile, 2m length polymer plain bearing extrusion. The extruded lengths are positioned into and around a rotating chuck. The company required a profile on the extrusion to match the chuck’s ID of 60mm. The extruded lengths are positioned inside special key ways evenly distributed around the inner chuck. Compressed air can be blown into the inner chuck below the extruded parts. The extruded parts then lift and lock home against the underside of the outer chuck. This prevents a roll of material from spinning whilst the material is cut. igus® supplied a suitable bearing material with the correct mating radius to allow some rotating resistance when a roll of material is cut to a specific length.
