Safe on the way
This handbike looks good, also far away from well-built roads. It is driven via pedal by hand. It is steered with the chest and downhill with the hands on the steering wheel. Altogether 30 bearings at the moveable parts of the bike need to be very shockproof on one hand and need to withstand the dusty or sometimes humid environment on the other hand. Apart from that, they should have little dead weight to keep the entire weight of the handbike as low as possible. This could not be realized with conventional metal bearings. For this reason, the designers decided to use lubrication-free plain bearings from igus®.
