See all of B-Smart's preparations for the world championships 2006 and game results right here!
The first improved mechanic parts have just arrived from the construction facility. The wheels can now be put together with perfect precision which reduces the play on the axis.
We also finally got a "tool" for building the protective cases for our robots. With this "tool", a hotair-gun and some patience we should now be able to build enough cases for the entire team. We would like to thank our construction team from the IWT Bremen again for their great work and fast help!
You're the best! :)
The official group lineups have been announced. We will play the following teams in group B:
There was a big article about B-Smart in the local "Weser-Kurier" Newspaper today. I'm really wondering if any journalist will one day succeed in writing a good article about RoboCup and/or B-Smart. The article was (once again) full of bad phrases, wrong cites and also has a noticeable negative undertone which is building some kind of concept of the enemy. Bummer ...
The high electromagnetic field emitted by the new kicking system seems to crash the new robots and not (as we thought) the voltage peeks. This would be quite good, because we could solve this problem better than the voltage peeks. We will try to find an appropriate material tomorrow. Hopefully we will be able to shield the microcontrollers with that.
Previous changes to the robots have also imfluenced the protectives cases. We will have to short them down by a few millimeters before bending them into the final shape.
The last mechanic parts should arrive in the next days. Time is short again, just as usual. But it would all be far too easy if everything would work out fine ;)
The next batch of parts come from the construction facilty yesterday. Only one last adjustment at the kicking head will be necessary and everything will finally be the right size at the right place.
Today we will continue our quest for suitable springs for the kicking mechanism and also have to visit a company in Ritterhude that sells the only glue we can use for combining the two parts of our protective cases for the robots.
The mechanic parts of our new robot generation still aren't really pretty, but they are finally working. The new O-rings we picked up today work fine with the dribblers, the new protective cases have been finished (looking really nice) and we also made some new markers for the robots.
We currently have 3 working shooting boards (working on the rest) and are just upgrading all running robots with the B-Smart lightless ball detection "lightsensor". Unfortunately there are still some new robots that just freak out after a certain amount of time due to an unknown microcontroller crash :(
Today is already the first setup day, but we have decided to mount the cameras at the Messehalle Bremen either this evening or tomorrow morning, because we can test and upgrade better here in our projekt room ...
