Precise radiation
This automatic arm is used in a hadron therapy system to direct radiation at tumour cells during cancer treatment. The arm positions the radiation unit in the required place. It was important for the developers – as with all medical applications – that the bearings used are resistant to disinfectant and do not require lubrication. This could not be achived with conventional bearings, which is why iglidur® plain bearings were chosen.
