This scanner provides precise near-field measurements of the radiation from an antenna, presenting an alternative to conventional far-field measurement, which determines the radiation properties of an antenna. For this device, which canalso be used as an EMC scanner or acoustic scanner, it was important to minimize the number of the metal or metallized components so as to prevent distortion of the measurement. The DryLin® linear bearings and carbon fibre shafts are a good alternative to traditional metal guides and shafts.
