In the scope of its university marketing program, igus® visited the FH Dortmund on 19/04/11 and the University of Duisburg-Essen on 11/04/11 and informed students about plastic bearings and their applications on site. This change from the daily lecture was very well received by the students and the professors alike.
In the FH Dortmund, the igus® guest lecture was even part of the exam-relevant material in the lecture series: Automotive engineering and design by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Herbert Funke. Christoph Meckel and Nora Heyner provided information not only on polymer solutions for automotive applications, but also brought the attention of the students and department staff to the Young Engineers Support and the many possibilities that it entails. Starting from downloads of videos and design aids and calculations, online configurators ... through the support of projects with product samples up to field trips, internships or final exam papers at igus®. At both universities, there was so much interest and appreciation that we will be giving lectures again on site next year.
