The IceMole is a melting probe used for study of polar regions, glaciers and, as a long-term goal, also extra-terrestrial regions. The probe consists essentially of a heating head with an ice screw and aluminium housing into which the measuring device can be placed. The bearings of the ice screw must be insensitive to water and dirt, as well as thermally insulated. Here an iglidur® A180-semi milled part is being used.
