Smovee - the electric scooter with a difference

Initiated by Sachs Bikes, Norbert Staffend started with a focus on "motorized two-wheeler" in the student project. The result was this pure and elegant e-scooter.

Even before the public debate on battery-powered vehicles began and the car manufacturers woke up, the initial plans were drawn up and preliminary models built. However, without a budget running into millions and only with the aid of a few sponsors and much hard work, this motorized 1:1 prototype came into being. Swift, low priced and chic – technically modeled on
the classic scooter, it appears instantly familiar. Compared to its peers, it functions much tidier and doesn't
want to be more than it is – an amusing and economical means of transportation for short to medium distances.
The entire technology is integrated in the frame section, the engine is seated on the drive hub and without the
usual clutter of cables even on the handlebar.

The model was exhibited till now in the six-week exhibition "Proben" (samples) at the "Prototyp-Sammlung Mobiler Kultur" (prototype collection of mobile culture) museum in Hamburg. It will also be displayed in September 2010 at the "Ars Electronica" in Linz. The iglidur® G plain bearings are ideally used at the bearing component, the folding mechanism between the handlebar and chassis.
Thanks a lot to igus® and the other sponsors and diligent assistants.
