Towers for wind turbines

The company KGW Schweriner Maschinen- und Anlagenbau GmbH is a manufacturer of wind turbine towers.
On the unit shown, the surfaces of wind turbine towers are subject to sandblasting, and at KGW they were looking for a cost-effective solution to guide the hydraulic hoses necessary for rotating the tower sections when loading the blasting chambers on a long distance. At the same time, the system was not allowed to hinder the installation space for the door and the shunting range of the ground conveyors on the last third of the travel distance, meaning that they had to do without a classic trough guide in this area. Before the E-Chain® was used, the hoses had to be elaborately connected and disconnected for every setup, whereby the blasting material got stuck to the oily screw connections and then damaged their threads. igus® was able to offer the right solution with the 3838R Series.
