This robot is designed for recovery and inspection work, in cases where people could be placed at risk, for example helping at the scene of accidents where hazardous substances have leaked, bomb disposal operations etc. The problem that emerged when designing the robot involved the bearings on the shafts. After it emerged that standard metal bearings were unsuitable in many respects for this application, the plain bearings made of iglidur® W300 meet all the requirements, as they are maintenance-free, shock-absorbing, resistant to dirt, affordable and have a high service life.
