Single-seat formula car
Light and reliable
On this new design for a single-seat formula car, costs, weight and stiffness were the important factors. The final product is a fully functioning racing car with 267 kg, 76 HP and a possible acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. igus® plain bearings made of iglidur® X provide the bearings for the complex axle geometry, as they must also work reliably under the loads incurred and in dirty conditions. Ball bearings would have been a plausible yet expensive, heavy and complicated alternative with increased maintenance work.
