Lowering mechanism for hood ornament
Wear-resistant and secure
On luxury cars like the Rolls Royce Phantom, the hood ornament can be lowered into the engine hood for theft protection. On the mechanism previously used, the components (reworked collar bearings) did not lay evenly flat. They also had to be pressed in so that they could not get lost. Using iglidur® clip bearings from igus® allowed the mechanism to be improved. Their advantages are the consistent bonding strength and the high wear resistance at different environmental conditions such as cold, heat or fine Sahara sand.
