Easy assembly

With around 7,500 polymer bearings made of 34 different iglidur® materials, igus® provides the right solution for all components and systems in fluid engineering - from the all-rounder and FDA-compliant bearings through to high temperature versions. In this case, ready-to-install piston rings to clip on replace more frequently elaborately produced PTFE tapes. Lower installation costs are a great benefit.

Clip-on guide rings are used among other things in cylinders, rotary drives, fittings, stroke and slew motors as well as on valve pistons. With linear and/or rotary movements, stroke or slewing motions, the iglidur® piston rings show their strengths with the materials matched to the respective requirements.

Advantages

How they work The iglidur® piston rings replace PTFE tapes, which are laboriously punched or cut out of a plate and manually inserted into a groove before the piston is then slipped over. The igus® solution is installed with a single hand movement, and the individual part is snapped in. Possible sources of errors and time spent on installation are considerably reduced. Handling is easy, there is no bending into shape and mistakes during installation are almost ruled out. This is also a particularly wear-resistant solution in case of edge loads. Added to that is the low heat expansion.

Wide application range The clip-on piston rings last in constant temperatures of –100 °C to +250 °C depending on the iglidur® material used. They withstand aggressive media, high compressive strength and wet conditions. The absence of lubrication in iglidur® allows it to be used in filling plants in the food and packing industry for example. Yet the snap-in piston rings also reveal their strengths in fittings and classic hydraulic cylinders.

Standard rangeTailored to your application in shape and material, for years igus® has been successfully producing numerous piston ring applications. Now the first iglidur® standard piston ring range is expected to be launched by autumn 2009, which will make it easier for you to get on board and will expand the range of applications.
