No more expensive repairs
In this assembly line, tires are automatically fitted onto rims. As a rule this takes 7.5 seconds per tire. Soap is used to help the assembly process. In the past this led to the lubricant being washed out of the bearings previously used. The bearings were blocked and the shafts used to break. The lubricant-free igubal® flange bearings used in their place have already been running since May 2007 without failure. This has enabled 2,440 Euro in repair costs and 8,400 Euro of costs for machine stoppages to be saved each year. The design engineers replaced another bearing component, which was on the brink of failure, with a bearing they lathed themselves out of an iglidur® semi-finished product. This part has not had to be replaced since that time either.
