Third entry

10.11.2008

Dear readers,

It's been a while since I last told you about my training. In recent months I have once again learned and experienced a lot. This is my 3rd blog entry about my activities in the last few months.

My work in the sales division was extended till the beginning of September, as I worked the summer as a vacation replacement. During this time I was fully engaged in completing all the tasks assigned to me. Requesting quotations, controlling stocks and handing out tools kept me busy all the time. These weeks have shown me how versatile, varied, but also strenuous the job of a purchasing agent is.

After my relatively long spell in the purchasing department, I eventually moved to sales, the last "big" operational area of my training. I began my work in telemarketing and order management. Here I followed up tenders, provided new sales material to customers, entered incoming orders in the system, etc. In addition I gathered more experience in contacting and handling customers.

After working in the order management, I experienced a very varied week. After a 3-day field excursion to Munich with my class from the vocational school, I had a short stint in field service, was at the igus® trade fair stand at the glasstec in Dusseldorf, before I moved to the internal sales department. During the field service, I went along for the various customer calls and was able to see, among other things, how our products are used in different applications.

At the moment I still work in internal sales and work on the calculation of offers, the creation of small drawings and many other tasks. I look forward to get to know sales and marketing even more closely in the coming weeks and will get back to you when there is something new to report.
