In the conception phase of the EQUATOR, all traditional metallic ball bearings and plain bearings in the entire aircraft system were replaced by corrosion-resistant, lightning-resistant and insulated plastic plain bearings. Depending on the size of the aircraft, around 360 bearing points and guide systems from igus® are used.
