This portal milling machine is used to manufacture points for railway networks. In the case of this process, hot metal chips with a temperature of more than 600 degrees Celsius are produced. The previously used energy system was usually worn out after nine months; the cables were destroyed by the metal chips, which resulted in production shutdowns. Remedial action was provided here by the completely sealed igus® energy tube system E4, which is made of the high-temperature material igumid HT from which the hot metal chips with a temperature of up to 850 degrees Celsius simply bounce off without leaving a trace.
