igus® test method and design tips

Design information for DryLin® R linear bearings

The mentioned values for "Fmax." refer to the performance of iglidur® liners made of high-performance plastics and cannot be used as the sole criterion for the calculation of an application. The max. load capacity of the overall bearing system depends on the mounting position, housing shape, the housing material, the connection including the used screws and requires a separate verification. For complete design of your application, please use our online design software "DryLin® Expert System".

igus® test method for determining the tolerance of DryLin® linear plain bearings

In order to guarantee the function of a DryLin® R linear plain bearing, it is necessary to use the bearings with a defined minimum excess (bearing clearance). The quality control of this item is done with a gage inspection. A certain force is defined to load the gage when the bearing is checked.

Describtion:
iglidur® X material has higher stiffness than iglidur® J. Depending on the diameter, this shifts the ratio of test force to LD diameter in comparison. The parts are designed in such a way that the clearance between iglidur® X and iglidur® J plain bearings is as identical as possible under load. By using the iglidur® X bearing liner, this can result in increased displacement forces on a shaft with h-tolerance in the unloaded new state.

When using a bearing (e.g. JUM/RJM) in combination with an adapter/housing (e.g. RJUM, OJUM, RGA), the manufacturing tolerance of the housing bore adds up to the above-listed minimum clearance (Normal case: H7). The sum of the these two values then shows the maximum possible bearing tolerance. Bearing of the dimensional series "Japan-Std." (JUJ) is checked according to the same criteria of the JUM bearing.

The effective bearing clearance is also impacted by the shaft tolerance. Any shaft undersize may have to be added.

Fmax dynamic:
The limit values are derived from the projected bearing surface and 5 MPa surface pressure.

Fmax static:
The limit values are derived from the projected bearing surface and 35 MPa surface pressure.
