For at least 15 years, the company Kaspar Walter GmbH & CO. KG in Krailing near Munich has been using energy supply systems of the igus® GmbH, Cologne. Various chain types in open or closed forms are used. Recently the preassembled energy supply chains, the so-called ReadyChain®, are also used besides the ESD versions. Galvanizing plants and machines for the surface finishing of cylinders are designed and manufactured in the company Kaspar Walter GmbH & CO. KG according to the latest technology. A turning and grinding machine was replaced by a follow-up model after nine years. In the general overhaul, it became apparent that the energy supply systems were still in a faultless condition in spite of the aggressive environment. The energy supply system was secured by the fully preassembled igus® ReadyChain® of the Series 38 / 39 and Chainflex® cables.
The ReadyChain® were assembled from simple energy chains systems with inlaid flexible Chainflex® cables ranging up to complex systems.
At the company Kaspar Walter, seven energy supply systems are used in the small series, of which two are fully preassembled ReadyChain®. Six move the axles, one the control cabinet. For the die carrier, we rely on the ReadyChain® from the start. The speed of the tool shaft is about 9 m/min, the travel distance at about 2.5 m. Based on the positive operating experiences, the next step is to equip the control cabinet with the preassembled version. "
Energy supply system with long travel
The complete energy supply system has a very high mechanical stress. In an uninterrupted three-shift operation seven days a week, an enormously high number of cycles is achieved in the course of time. A great advantage of the igus® energy supply system is that its exceedingly rugged plastic chains withstand the most extreme adverse conditions. Even when the energy supply system is not directly exposed to aggressive media, it comes into contact for instance with chemicals through the humidity.
After nine years in the electroplating industry under adverse environmental conditions, the energy supply systems and the Chainflex® cables are in top condition.
