igus® engineers develop more than 100 new plastic compounds every year, test the resultant maintenance-free plain bearings in more than 5,000 experiments every year and have been able to build up a comprehensive tribological database over time out of this.

A special geometry adapted to the centrifugal arm results in a significant reduction of production costs: this factor added to the high wear resistance and freedom from lubrication forms the principle reason for using iglidur® bearings.

The reduction in drive power for Krones' bottle washing machines was an important result achieved by iglidur® RN bearings. This was accomplished despite extremely difficult conditions, such as 2-3% caustic soda at a temperature of 80°C.
