At this chassis for racing cars, the usual shackles as spring or axis guide for the leaf spring suspension have been waived. Conventional systems showed weakness of the spring due to the rotational movement of the shackles and tend to an imprecise road holding, especially in narrow and steep curves. Therefor, the participant of the manus competition mounted the leaf spring onto a plain bearing guide from igus®. This allows precise guiding of the spring and also the axis and lateral movements are avoided. This leads to a better driving behaviour and increased cross-country mobility. Apart from that the igus® bearings are sturdy and lubrication-free.
