Test robot

Safe testing

This robot is called “Porton Man” and tests protective clothing for the British military. The developers used iglidur® X plain bearings in all its joints. And they had good reason to do so: in order to test whether the clothing provides protection against chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear substances, it is contaminated with just such substances. However, conventional ball bearings quickly fail when faced by chemical agents such as mustard gas or sarin. The high-performance bearings of the X series on the other hand are absolutely resistant to chemicals and extremely wearproof in a temperature range of -100 to +250°C.
