How does friction change as a function of runtime?

The igus® lab has determined that the friction of iglidur® plain bearings exhibits very little change as a function of runtime. Rolled metallic plain bearings were tested for comparison. Since these only have a thin gliding layer on the surface, friction and wear increase as soon as this layer is worn.
