Enlargement of the igus single-core program about a cheaper variant with strong conductor cable

The igus motor cable family is supplemented with a cheaper single core with PUR jacket – the chainflex cable CF270.UL.D. single core. The bending resistant conductor cable, made of fine strands, is developed for flexible operation in energy chains used in machine tools. This is a space-saving alternative to the space-consuming four-wire servo cables for such applications. Conductor and shield superstructures design have been especially optimized for this application.

Spindle drives are becoming larger and more efficient in case of machining centres and machine tools. To guide such higher energy streams, accordingly larger conductor cross sections are required. The consequence: The used servo cables are becoming thicker and thicker so that the radius of the energy chain goes beyond the permissible space of the machine tool. The shielded single core cable from igus offers a solution: The single core CF270.UL.D, designed as a spindle cable, is much thinner and for this reason ideal for use in an energy chain with a small radius to a machine tool.

A high-quality and simultaneously cheap single core.
The design of the spindle cable from igus is simple and still corresponds with the igus quality criteria regarding moved cables: A bending resistant conductor cable made of fine strands is shielded with a closed meshed and bending resistant copper wire braid with around 80 % optical covering. This ensures a very good and permanent electromagnetic compatibility. In accordance to the requirements for energy chains, the outer jacket is made of an adhesion-poor mixture on a PUR basis. For this reason it is oil-resistant, notch-resistant as well as halogen-free and also usable in deep-temperature applications. Due to the orange jacket colour, the UL and NFPA79.2012 permission, it corresponds with the desires of the machine tool industry. With this, the igus spindle cable is a cheap and high-quality alternative to the so far available single core series CF310.UL with TPE jacket.

Six different types of the PUR spindle cable
The spindle cable CF270.UL.D is available in six different conductor nominal cross sections, outside diameters and copper numbers. To add, the new spindle cable completes the existing chainflex single core series CF310.UL and CF340.

The CF270.UL.D and many other igus products around machine tools are exhibited at the EMO 2013 in hall 25, booth B14.
