drylin-Q 20 square guide freely supports high loads from all directions

igus GmbH, the tribo polymer company, expands it’s linear guide range with a drylin-Q 20 square guide that is lubrication-free and secured against twisting. With one guide it is now possible, to absorb forces up to 10 Nm from all directions. The bearing play of the guide carriage can be adjusted manually. Additionally a hollow profile provides space for supply lines.

For about 15 years, igus develops abrasion-optimized components for the linear technology. The company stands for dry-running plastic components that move machines, for example in the business area of linear technology, there igus offers a wide portfolio of guide systems. New in the linear modular kit is drylin-Q 20 – a square guide system with a profile edge length of 20 millimetres that promises additional benefits with being lubrication-free and maintenance-free.

New square guide variant for self-supporting solutions
drylin-Q 20 is the extension of the already introduced drylin-Q 10 square guide for small loads. The new size is appropriate for any self-supporting solutions. The speciality is: because of the square profile, drylin-Q 20 is absolutely safe against twisting. This linear guide from igus can support impacting loads and moments up to 10 Newton meters in all directions. With it drylin-Q 20 supplements the existing igus program with other possibilities of applications: Previous linear guides that were safe against twisting and self-supporting have been achieved at igus with circular guides that are guided with two parallel installed shafts or via the classic rail guide that is often mounted without being self-supported. From now on, this gap is closed by the square guide drylin-Q 20, available as a system.

The bearing play - steplessly and manually adjustable
In addition to the adjustable guide carriage, the system modular kit consists of hard-anodized square profiles made of aluminium. Maximum length of the rails is 4 meters. Along with the functional safety on the igus profile, the guide carriage can be combined with all 20/20 aluminium construction systems. Therefore the drylin-Q 20 carriage is also offered as an individual component by igus. Differences in tolerance can be easily compensated, because the bearing play can be manually adjusted with an Allen key in all directions. Up to two slots exist on each side of the guide carriage. Connected with slot nuts, it is very easy to mount applications to the carriage in all directions. In addition, a simple hand clamp where the clamping lever presses on the sliding elements is in planning.

The square hollow profile provides space for supply lines such as compressed air, electricity and liquids. This is ideal for the use in narrow spaces, as for example in laboratory devices like pipettors or in small freezing units, because it saves space for the insertion of cables. For this reason, the space-saving and dry-running linear sliding system drylin-Q 20 is frequently used in medical technology.
